What overpacking taught me about business

I just got back from NYC where I went for a marketing conference — and let me tell you, the conference was amazing. But the unpacking afterward? Not so much.

Here’s the truth: I’m a chronic overpacker. I brought way more than I needed because I kept thinking, what if I want options?

By the time I got home, my suitcase was bursting at the seams, because, of course, I did do some shopping — and the reality of unpacking hit me. Hanging up clothes I never wore, tossing half-used outfits into the laundry, and then dragging myself to fold and put everything away. Somewhere between shoving jeans into a drawer and stacking shirts, I caught myself thinking: Why did I carry all this extra stuff for no reason? I know I'm not the only one that has thought this after traveling.

And it clicked — overpacking isn’t that different from how we sometimes run our businesses. We pile on extra “just in case” ideas, tools, or offers that sound useful, but in reality, they weigh us down.

  1. More isn’t always better.

Extra outfits didn’t make my trip smoother — they just made my bags heavier. Same with business: adding more things doesn’t guarantee faster growth.

  2. Carry only what you’ll actually use.

That pair of heels I thought I might wear? Never left the bag. In business, the “extras” often just eat up space and energy.

  3. Lighter bags = more freedom.

Traveling is so much easier when you only bring the essentials. Business runs smoother too, when you focus on the few things that really matter.

And that’s exactly why I’m so excited about my Lunara PLR templates launch. These aren’t “just in case” items you’ll never use — they’re the kind of essentials that actually get put to work. From Instagram to email to proposals, they’re designed to simplify things, not add more clutter.

P.S. So tell me — are you more of an overpacker or a pack-light type? (And yes, that applies to your business too.) Email us and let us know.
